Jersey Girl had her calf December 2nd at 2am. He is a big bull calf, stood up and walked around quickly. He was hopping around the stall that afternoon. We started milking Jersey Girl Friday morning and freezing the Colostrum

Grass is growing and beautiful green as we have had 3 feet of rain in the last 4 weeks.  Lots of rain.  Trees are leaved out, Lilac has already bloomed once and garden is ready for planting soon.  Little Faith has really grown.

Ginger had her baby, a filly, on March 16th.  Roy is the father.  Filly is colored just like Star was last year.  We thought Star might color out a buckskin, but she has stayed a bay.  Spring is here, we have been working getting the garden ready, spreading horse manure. We had tons and tons of rain and then very warm temps!  Lilac bush is leafing, Florabunda has tiny leaves and Oaks are budding.  The Easter Lillies are out and yellow.  See all the green grass.

Ah, can't wait.  It's been a pretty cold winter with snow several times and quite a bit of wind.  But now the grass is turning green and all of the Surprise Lillys are popping up, along with Easter Lillys and other bulbs.  The Lilac Bush has tiny, tiny buds too.  The Sandhill Cranes flew over one week early this year, on Feb 14-15.  We still see them migrating north every day or so.  Jersey Girl went and met her Beau, Wilbur, a very small Jersey bull owned by our good friends.  She will have a Thanksgiving baby next year.  She is the best milk cow ever.  We are still milking her twice a day.  This is a pic of Wilbur.

It's been a dry second half of the summer, we need rain in this part of Kentucky.  The fall colors are out now on the trees.  It's getting chilly in the mornings, but then warms up good in the afternoons.
